Frequently Asked Questions

Must I be a member of WKC to sign up for a class?

Not at all!  Anyone can take a training class, however a benefit of membership is a class discount.

Does my dog have to be a purebred?

Absolutely not!  All are welcome.

Where are the classes held?

Most classes will be held at 100 First Street in East Wenatchee. Some classes will be held off-site when that is more appropriate.

How large are the classes?

Class size is limited so that each student has a productive and safe training session. We may cancel any class that has less than three dogs registered. Class size is often restricted to six or eight dogs, but that is dependent on the class and the instructor.

At what age can dogs come to class?

Experts on dog behavior and training recommend that puppies start class at 12 weeks old.  Consult your veterinarian for his or her advice for your dog.  Please note any age restrictions in the class description before signing up for a class.

When does the next class start?

There are six class sessions during the year:  January-February, March-April, May-June, July-August, September-October, and November-December.  Generally, classes begin the first week of every other month. One exception is Junior Puppy Class, for which a new class begins the first week of every month.

WHEN ARE CLASS SCHEDULES POSTED?

Class schedules are posted on the 20th of the month prior to the next class session.  (The exception being December - published on the 18th).  As an example, the May-June schedule would be posted on April 20th.

How do I sign up for a class?

We now use an online form to sign up for classes. The class schedule will be posted on the 20th of the month prior to the session start. Check the schedule that afternoon. Sign up starts at 6pm two days after on the 22nd.  See the button “video on how to register online” on our main registration page for a “how-to” guide.

Can't I just show up?

No, pre-registration is required for all classes. You may not simply show up the first day of class. The class may already be full, and your instructor would not have had time to assess your suitability for that particular class. You will not have received instructions about what to bring to the first class.

How do I know if I got into the class?

Check the website for your dog's name on the Registrations Received page. When you sign up online, you will get an email confirming you are in the class. If the class you would like does not show up, it is because it is already full.

What equipment will I need to bring for my dog?

This depends on which class you are taking.  Once you register we will be sure to let you know what to bring with you.

I have more questions.  Is there anyone I can talk to?

You are welcome to leave us a message at 509-886-DOGS (886-3647).  We can usually respond within 24 hours. You can also email: dogs4tam@gmail.com
